Digital Television
The
Government has decided that by 2012 all analogue television
signals in the UK will be switched off. This means
converting or upgrading your television and/or aerial to
receive
digital television. Digital television also allows
access to additional interactive features, giving you extra
information, footage not previously shown and replays. A
parental lock facility exists to enable you to control the
channels accessed by children.
All Aerials & Satellites
can offer advice on the options available to you in the area
where you live.
Freeview
is one way to receive digital terrestrial television (ie via
a TV aerial). It offers over 30 TV and 20+ radio channels,
including BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 - which
makes it ideal for people living in poor reception areas.
There is no monthly subscription charge involved to receive
these standard 50+ channels. There is an optional Top Up TV
monthly subscription if you want to receive extra channels.
Freeview postcode area check. If your postcode area is
not covered by Freeview, it may still be possible to receive
Freeview, either by re-tuning or by upgrading your aerial.
If Freeview is definitely not available for you, then we
would recommend
FreeSat from Sky.
To receive Freeview, you will either need
a television with a Freeview tuner built in (iDTV) or a set
top box. All Aerials & Satellites
can supply these compact boxes for £65 fully fitted - this
includes installation, tuning of your video and DVD,
together with a free digital aerial signal check. All
Freeview set top boxes purchased and installed by
All Aerials & Satellites will receive a
discounted aerial upgrade, if required. |
